This Miracle of God's Creation

 Genesis 2:7 ESV

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Genesis 1:27 ESV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

We humans are the creation of God.  Science classifies humans as animals/mammals,  which is true! The miraculous difference from other animals is that we are indeed created "in the image of God. God breathed life into man and gave humans the unique ability to feel emotion, reason, create, and make logical  and moral decisions. Humans also understand the miracle of Jesus Christ and God's gift through His Son. We have cognitive abilities far above the animals that God created and put under the care of man.

I was asked recently to explain   the difference between a human mind and a human brain. Our physical brain was created by and in the image of God and facilitates the innumerable thoughts, emotions and abilities of the mind thereby reflecting  the creative genius  of a perfect God! If you have ever read how the human brain works and read the works of great authors, you can understand this miracle of God's creation.   I think we humans need to stop and realize what the Creator gave us.  Sometimes we get a bit puffed up about who we are and what we can do when we should be thankful to our God. He must shake his head a lot!

Prodigal:

1. spending money or resources freely and recklessly; wastefully extravagant.

2. having or giving something on a lavish scale.

One of my favorite Bible stories as a child was the story of the prodigal son. I could not imagine how that father embraced such an awful child. My primary Sunday School teacher told me that this parable was really about how God loved me. She said, " God knows  that we are sinners, but he gave  his perfect love to us through Jesus."  I guess that was my first real understanding of God's love.

You see, we slip up, we falter at times, but that love from our Heavenly Father never fails! If you truly do not know this love, you can. John  explains so beautifully and simply  in John 3:16 exactly what
God's perfect love is all about. He says,  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." Even though we are foolish and neglectful, He loves us.

Those of us who already live and know this love lavished on us have a responsibility. We must share that love with zeal. This lost world desperately needs to know about Jesus Christ!

Luke 15:11-32 ESV

"And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found."

On Your Mark, Get Set, and GO!

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Throughout my adult life, I 've been asked why by so many folks. Why run, why race motorcycles, why go to school, why do what you do, and why go to more school are just a few. (No one has asked why I am a redhead, but maybe they should.)

In this life there is settling and there is pushing harder, running farther, reading more, doing more! I believe that God wants his children to reach for stars, study His Word, seek His will, look for challenges, and embrace this life He has given us. At almost 75, I am not running races or racing motorcycles, but there are mountains out there that still need climbing. I can read more great books, listen to good stories and beautiful music, spend more time talking with my Heavenly Father, and seek a deeper understanding of His truth. I can share Christ with others every day and reach out to others who need to see what Christ can do to the heart of man or a redheaded lady! What mysteries, and amazing discoveries wait for me? On my mark, get set, and go forth into this amazing life that God gave me.  The end of the race is heavenly.
