Roll Your Sleeves Up

Colossians 3:12

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

     There are many passages that address our call to care for others. This particular verse first addresses the fact that we are indeed God's chosen people through Jesus Christ. Additionally, we are called to clothe ouselves with  compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience as we serve our risen Savior, as we care for others.
Paul addresses the fruit of the Spirit in Galations 5:22-23 saying:

 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,patience, kindness,goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law."

     These atributes, characteristics are the very ones describing our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are all called to be "Christ-like."  We are to be in Christ."
We are commanded to "love our neighbor." As we clothe ourselves with the fruit of the Spirit, filled with what Christ promised, the Holy Spirit,  we must care for our neighbor in love. How different our world might be if we each
reach out to those who need Jesus Christ in their lives, or need a fellow child of God to lend a hand in love. We express our testimony through action.
